• Search multiple databases sequentially to exploit database-specific features
• Identify or remove duplicate answers from multifile search results using the DUPLICATE command

Prerequisites:

• STN Basics Parts 1, 2, and 3

or

• Competencies with keyword searching in bibliographic databases and using the HELP, FILE, EXPAND, SEARCH, DISPLAY, LOGOFF, FOCUS, and INDEX commands
• Ability to competently apply logic operators, truncation, and proximity operators as well as to search in specialized fields
• Know how to use CAS roles and the SELECT CHEM command, conduct effective substance searches, and retrieve bibliographic references associated with chemical substances
